Sydney Kings selects Montagio to lift style game to new heights

As Official Style Partner of the Sydney Kings, Montagio was selected to get all players and coaching staff looking their slamming best off the court.t

In the 2018 pre-season the Sydney Kings made the decision to lift the style game of their players and coaches to lead the league on and off the court. So when the call came out that the Kings were looking for a tailor, we stood up tall. It would take an extraordinary effort as basketballers come in all shapes and sizes (mostly gigantic!) and off-the-rack suits were never going to cut it.

We were chuffed when Sydney Kings announced that our styling options, fabrics and fitting process were perfect for them, and we pulled out all the stops to get the boys looking their slamming best. From key players like Andrew Bogut and Jerome Randle to the coaching staff including Andrew Gaze and Lanard Copeland – they all look like absolute Kings.

ydney Kings’ brief was simple, “we want all players and coaching staff to put their best image forward at games, press conferences and events.” This led to their partnership with Montagio, as we offered a unique ability to custom design and fit suits, and their players sure had some special sizing needs.

For the initial team fit-out, Montagio’s chief stylist Jatin V, visited Qudos Bank Arena during a Kings’ training session with a hand-picked range of fabrics, a tape measure and a step ladder to size up the tall order that are the Kings!

After discussion with the assistant coach (and resident style aficionado) Lanard Copeland, Montagio’s Jatin V. suggested the Kings go with a brighter French navy blue in Super 120s Italian wool. This was a versatile, but also eye-catching choice that met the many demands of the players. Comfortable enough to wear on game day, yet sharp enough to wear to a press conference.

A two-tone purple and gold lining was also selected to match the King’s colours. As for styling, the players got a two-button, peak lapelled jacket, accented with a purple tie and gold pocket square. Demanding something more unique, coaches Andrew Gaze and Lanard Copeland opted for checks and pinstripes. All suits were further personalised with each person’s name monogrammed inside the jacket, and the shirt cuff.

All said and done, the boys scrubbed up brilliantly, and to finish off some of the players and coaches were invited back to our George Street showroom to see where the magic happens!
